LaLaWed: Tia, could you tell us a little about yourself? Just a short introduction.
Tia: Hola, and sunny greetings from Mallorca! My name is Tia Cohen. I was born in Paris and spent my childhood there. If I had to describe myself in a few words, I’d say cheerful, determined, and romantic. I suppose I’m also at that wonderful stage called “a woman’s age.”
LaLaWed: How did you get into this profession? What inspired you to become a wedding planner?
Tia: I have a long background in media and music in Finland. I started out as a host on MTV3’s Jyrki show and later moved to MOON TV. After that, I worked as a production coordinator and stylist for TV programs, fashion shows, and music events. I styled many Finnish artists, including Ninja Sarasalo.
Then I fulfilled one of my biggest dreams in the music world—performing the songs of Edith Piaf across Finland for 12 years. I produced my own concerts and performed in amazing shows alongside legends like Pepe Wilberg and the Riku Niemi Orchestra.

Aesthetic beauty has always been essential to me, and my experience in event production and styling helped cultivate my passion for weddings. When I moved to Mallorca, the opportunity practically presented itself—and I didn’t hesitate. Today, I run my own company, La Promesse, and I absolutely love what I do.
LaLaWed: What do you find most challenging in your work?
Tia: I wouldn’t call it challenging in the traditional sense, but I am responsible for the most important day in a couple’s life. That’s a huge honor—and a deeply personal journey I share with them, sometimes for up to two years. There’s no room for mistakes. I have to fully understand the bride’s vision and design a wedding that reflects the couple’s personality. I also select the most suitable vendors whose energy aligns with theirs.
If I had to name a true challenge, it would be time zone differences. Since I work internationally, video calls often take place late at night—when I’m ready to sleep after a long day, my couples are just waking up on the other side of the world.
LaLaWed: Time differences are indeed a challenge. I experienced the same while studying wedding planning at the New York Institute of Art and Design. How do you stay organized when managing multiple weddings at once?
Tia: Strong organization, nerves of steel, and a great planning system are key. I use a platform that allows couples to track their wedding preparations in real time. This ensures all information is available and up to date. Thanks to this, I can manage several beautiful summer weddings here in Mallorca with confidence.
LaLaWed: Have you had situations where the couple and their parents had conflicting opinions?
Tia: Actually, I haven’t had a single case where the parents were involved in the planning process.
LaLaWed: A wedding day consists of many moments. What’s your favorite part?
Tia: The ceremony, without a doubt. It’s a beautiful and emotional moment where love is present in everything. In Mallorca, most weddings are symbolic, as couples are usually already legally married in their home country. They come here to celebrate. And what better setting than beside turquoise waters in the sunshine?
LaLaWed: That’s my favorite part, too. As a celebrant, I prepare the ceremony script in advance so I don’t tear up too much on the wedding day! Let’s talk about trends. Do you follow current wedding trends?
Tia: Absolutely! Mallorca hosts some truly spectacular weddings. The island is one of the most desired wedding destinations in the world. Many international celebrities and affluent couples get married here because of its natural beauty and the fact that prices are still lower than in places like the U.S. or Paris—maybe even lower than in Finland.
LaLaWed: Many couples find wedding planning stressful. What advice would you give them to stay calm?
Tia: A wedding is a celebration of love. There’s no reason to stress about it. As a wedding planner, it’s my job to make sure couples can enjoy the process and the day itself. I take all the stress off their shoulders.
LaLaWed: What brings you the most joy on a wedding day?
Tia: Being part of something filled with love and romance. When I see a bride tear up with joy when she sees the décor, I know I’ve succeeded. The gratitude from couples and their families is always deeply touching.
LaLaWed: We’re nearing the end of our interview. What would you like to say to our readers in Finland?
Tia: Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples! Enjoy the planning—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you’re dreaming of a fairytale wedding on a paradise island, I’d love to help make that dream come true. Get in touch and let’s start planning!
Hasta la próxima,
Tia
