By Anna Laskev, wedding photographer
Every love story is unique, and to capture yours authentically, I need to know more than just the timeline. Here’s what helps me photograph your wedding with heart and intention:
1. Your Story as a Couple
Tell me how you met, what you love doing together, and what makes your connection special. This helps me capture your chemistry and highlight the moments that feel most you.
2. What Kind of Photos You Love
Do you prefer candid, documentary-style shots? Or dreamy, editorial portraits? Show me your favorite images — even from Pinterest or past weddings — to align on aesthetic and tone.
3. What You’re Nervous About
Do you feel awkward in front of the camera? Let me know! I’ll guide you through every pose gently, helping you feel comfortable and confident. Pre-wedding shoots are great for easing nerves.
4. Special Family Situations
Let me know about any family dynamics I should be aware of: divorced parents, step-relatives, or sensitivities that might affect group photos. My goal is always to photograph with respect and harmony.
5. What Moments Matter Most
Is there a specific tradition, person, or detail that’s especially meaningful? A grandmother’s brooch, a handwritten vow, or a private first look? Tell me in advance so I don’t miss those precious moments.
6. Your Vision for the Day
Share your overall wedding style — boho beach elopement, chic villa dinner, minimalist garden party? Knowing your vibe helps me plan the perfect lighting, angles, and storytelling moments.
7. Your Timeline (and Plan B)
Include everything in your schedule — even makeup touch-ups and location transfers. And if you’re outdoors, share your rain plan! I’ll adapt quickly, but I need to be prepared.
8. Who’s Who in Your Crew
Point out your maid of honor, best man, and anyone helping manage the day. These are my go-to people when I need quick coordination.
9. What You Want to Feel
Do you want your photos to be romantic, joyful, playful, or serene? Telling me how you want your day to feel helps me capture that emotional energy in your gallery.
Your photographer isn’t just a vendor — they’re your storyteller. So don’t be shy — share your world with me. The more I know, the more personal and meaningful your wedding photos will be.
